At Granja Las Aguilas, our chickens are raised on pasture with free access to organic sprouted grains, organic meal feed (e.g. ground flax seeds and grains), and fresh water. Out in the field, they consume bugs and plants like alfalfa, lambsquarters, amaranth, and clover, turning all that protein into flavorful chicken and chicken fat! Combined with fresh air and sunshine, pastured local chickens beat out storebought chickens any day.

We keep around 50-75 chickens in a covered and secure pens up to 200 square feet. We move them every day or two, depending on what the ground is like where they are. Our chickens are a patented "jumbo broiler" from Sunnyside Hatchery in Beaver Dam WI, and are similar to the hybrid known as "Cornish Cross." We process them on-farm around 8 weeks old, observing humane and strict food safety protocols.
